MAMALLAPURAM (Also known as Mahabalipuram) - Mamallapuram declared as a World Heritage Centre by UNESCO, is 60 kms from Chennai. It was a flourishing port of the Pallavas, but today, it is a popular beach resort. The place serves as an outstanding example of Dravidian art and architecture.
KANCHIPURAM – City of a thousand temples, once the capital of the pallavas, Kanchipuram stil contains no less than 124 shrines. Kanchipuram is also known as the center of silk weaving and is famous for its silk sarees and materials.
PONDICHERRY – Pondicherry, the former French colony settled in the early 18th century, is a charming coastal town with a few enduring pockets of French culture and an ashram.
MADURAI – Madurai is another destination for the spiritually-inclined. Once the capital city of the Pandyas, it is endowed with a rich architectural and art history.
KANNIYAKUMARI – is the southern most tip of India and the place where the Bay of Bengal, the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean commingle. On a full moon day in April, the sun and moon come face to face on the same horizon.
